Vital Radio 170 – Hour 2: DirtyLoud

| April 6th, 2012 | No Comments »

While Dirtyloud’s music may be a mix of the filthiest elements of electro-house and dubstep, according to one half of the duo their sound has its roots in Brazil’s thriving psy-trance scene.

“Psy-trance was getting really big in Belo Horizonte (their home city) and I wanted to start to DJ but I couldn’t find the records, so I made them myself”, says Eduardo Nasciamento, making psy-trance production sound as simple as putting a copy of City Of God in the DVD player.

A chance encounter with local electro-house big-wig Marcus Campos at a friend’s studio led to a move away from the genre – and the formation of Dirtyloud.

“A friend asked us to play at a party he was putting on, so we made seven tracks in seven days in the run-up,” says Eduardo. A set to 3,000 people later, and Dirtyloud were well on the way to the electro-house big league.

Jesse was born in 1975 in the south of Holland and was injected with the music virus from his early childhood. Both his parents are classically trained musicians, and he followed up on that by taking piano lessons. As a teenager however, he picked up on hiphop and rock music in the late 80′s and went on for a different kind of music.

That was until he discovered dance music in the 90′s. He started to party, but just dancing wasn’t enough: he wanted to make the people dance. That’s why he bought his first records, from early hiphop to old school acid, techno and drum ‘n bass and started spinning, mainly on small parties from friends. And now his name is buzzing around everywhere.

The dj rocks all dancefloors of Holland’s most renowned clubs and dance events, like Dance Valley and also outside Holland his name is rapidly gaining. His unique blend of house, tech-house and minimal and his an excellent choice of records gets it going on everywhere. Vital Radio 164 – Hour 1: Mumbai Science

| February 11th, 2012 | No Comments »

If there is one thing you can’t say, its that Maarten Elen and Jonas Kiesekoms – aka Mumbai Science – have a lack of imagination. At only 24, the duo already has a decade worth of creative experimenting behind them, from making politically incorrect rock music to writing absurd theatrical plays. However, it was only in 2010 that their musical passion culminated into the indie-electro vibes of ‘Mumbai Science’, creating a sound that melts contemporary electro-synths with a vintage techno feel.

In 2010, the duo signed on with the notorious Lektroluv Records, releasing four original EP’s (Woof EP, Ancova EP, Gold EP and Lotus EP). Club hits like ‘Ancova’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Lotus’ got picked up by artists around the globe (2 many dj’s, Crookers, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Tiga and beyond).  This put Mumbai Science on the worlds EDM radar. Apart from their original work, Mumbai Science is also building an impressive list of remixes. To date, the duo has been behind remixes for Mixhell (Boysnoize Records), Goose (!K7), Crookers (Southern Fried), Alex Gopher (Go 4 Music), Shameboy (East), Highbloo (Lektroluv) and Jaymo & Andy George (Moda Music).
