Friday Flashback: Going Above and Beyond in 2005

Above and Beyond. Their name is iconic in the dance music world.  Ever since the term “New Millenium” became a buzz word, Above and Beyond have been making their mark in the scene.  Their very first remix, a trancey take of Chakra’s ‘Home’ became an A-side feature, and shortly thereafter made their Dj-ing debut in Japan in front of 8,000 of Tokyo’s finest party people.  Not a bad way to start a music career.

In 2004, Pete Tong dubbed the Above & Beyond trio “the UK’s new trance superstars”, just after the release of their massive single No One on Earth.

As a music lover, I’d say that 2005 was the year for these music masterminds.  They put together their album Tri-State which included anthems like Air For Life (with Andy Moor), Can’t Sleep, Good For me, and Alone Tonight. The album was so good, it was stuck in my CD player for all of the car rides in 2005 (and most of 06 as well).

In the summer of 2005, Above and Beyond perfomed at the 10 year anniversary party of BBC Radio 1’s live broadcasts from Space, Ibiza. This set can be found on download sites, torrent directories, and hard drives all across the digital world, but we’ve got it right here for direct download.

Bringing you one of the best live Trance sets of the last 10 years, this is Above and Beyond, live from Space.
